Yoke Lore is the new musical project or Adrian Galvin, previously of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon. Yoke Lore layers harmonies of Panda Bear, the soulful beats of M83, and the modern pop of Blackbird Blackbird. “A ‘yoke’ is something that holds things together. ‘Lore’ means a set of stories or collection of ideas about an event, time or culture…I want to tell stories about how things are bound and held together”
Goodpain is about the necessary periods of struggle you have to go through to get the to the good parts of anything. These songs are about struggles of mine: the really hard parts of being in a relationship, the hard parts of making music. All of the songs culminate in viewing the struggle as part of a process to gain a wider perspective and understand that natural tension is the true way forward.
The video deals with a couple questions. If life is constantly changing, how do we remain constant amidst constant change? Are there ways to preserve our good parts and kill off the parts of ourselves that don’t serve us? And through all the changes in time, space, and body, do we really change at all?
