There seems to be quite a renaissance of late with DJs peddling in beats of the more broken beat variety. Locally, acts like Andy Garvey and Roza Terenzi aren’t averse to dropping some fractured grooves amongst their 4/4 selections, and internationally the appeal of electro has grown exponentially.
It seems timely then that UNKLE has released a new single which sees them go back to a genre that frontman James Lavelle built his kingdom on. Through his Mo’Wax imprint, he is known for launching the careers of acts like DJ Shadow and DJ Krush, and it is to those artists that he now looks to for inspiration on ‘Ar.mour’, a robust 3-minute journey through some solid beats featuring the vocal talents of Elliot Power and Miink.
if you like this then watch out for the upcoming UNKLE 2CD release ‘The Road: Part II / Lost Highway’ which will be released end of March through Songs for the Def.
