Clarian is one of those producers who dance’s to his own beat. Whether he is making music for Kompakt or Multi Culti, you can always expect something different from the Canadian. So to say we got a bit excited about the upcoming release of his debut album ‘Television Days’ might be an understatement.
In true Clarian form, the album will be a concept album of sorts, as it follows ‘the tragic adventures of Kevin Jones, a down-and-out television scriptwriter living in West Hollywood who’s obsessed with Carl Sagan’s Cosmos and believes he’s being contacted by ancient astronauts’. Whoa.
To get everyone primed the album’s first single dropped a couple of weeks ago, the super classy lo-fi sounds of ‘Under The Gun’, a sumptuous piece of music which can easily soundtrack a carefree ride down the freeway in a convertible. To make the track more club-friendly, Clarian enlisted fellow Canuck Tiga and label boss/mate Michael Mayer to turn the single into more dancefloor friendly weapons.
The video for ‘under the Gun’ just got released last week and it’s a doozy. With shades of melancholy and an almost David Lynchian vibe, the video will keep you enthralled right until it’s almost unsettling end. We approve.
