Never Has A Music Video Embodied A Song Better Than This

Tasmanian producer AKOUO has teamed up with ARIA Award winning singer-songwriter, Montaigne, for the incredible new track, ‘Feel That’. One can best describe Australian producer Akouo’s sound as shimmery, futuresque and unlike anything heard before. Paired with Montagne’s unique vocals and emotive lyrics, ‘Feel That’ is set to be a breakout track of 2017. Watch the beautifully animated video by Sydney production house, Entropico:

This record is truly a heartbreak wonder, with the luscious vocals of Montaigne accompanied by the melancholic beats of Akouo. The animation is like entering the world of Akouo with the altered dimension representing the escapism that exists in our lives with the words “unfolding from desires that own me” to “I want to feel the shackles sliding”. Too often musicians create music videos based on their neighbourhoods without any creative thought, this is the complete opposite and exactly why we are sharing it

When asked, Akouo says “It’s a rare occurrence to have a chance to work with people who are rich in artistic ability but also have a strong passion for the entire creative process from start to finish. True to the nature of art, the lyrics came to Montaigne very quickly and naturally, but it took months to wrap them carefully in this cozy blanket of sound that we both love”.

Montaigne wrote the song “from the perspective of someone who’s had a lot of hurtful experiences in relationships and therefore is afraid to be vulnerable with another person, but finds this new person for whom they can’t help but feel a strong, loving attachment. I always imagine this song visually, as if it’s the inner monologue of a woman lying in the dark beside the subject who’s sleeping, and she’s calculating and fretting restlessly about her fraught feelings, wanting to surmount her fear but all the same letting the inevitability of heartbreak get to her. I think Akouo captured the mood and atmosphere of the content really beautifully, I really love working with him.”
